WATERLOO -- Waterloo West scored a pair of goals off deflections and beat Linn-Mar, 3-0, Wednesday night in a Class 3A substate semifinal boys soccer game.

No. 15 West (11-8) advances to the substate final against No. 5  Cedar Rapids Washington on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Kingston Stadium. Washington beat Dubuque Senior, 1-0, Wednesday night.

West took advantage of a misplayed ball in the Linn-Mar defensive zone and scored an own goal at the 26:40 mark of the first half. The Wahawks added a goal by Chris Cleope on a breakaway at the 50:56 mark, and another own goal at the 72:36 mark.

Linn-Mar closed out its season 9-9.
