Gingrich shoots Lions past No.4 Prairie boys

In a game they controlled the whole way, it took the Linn-Mar boys almost 60 minutes to finally put away Prairie, 2-1, Tuesday night on the frozen tundra of their home field.

The game winner came with 20:41 to go when junior midfielder Jason Gingrich smacked a line drive from the 10-yard line high into the far left side of the net.

“Jason (Webb) dropped the ball off. I took one touch and the ball dipped into the corner,” Gingrich explained after scoring his fourth goal of the season.

“We were very lucky we didn’t lose in the second overtime,” said Kennedy co-coach Steve Robertson. “One inch to the left and the ball would have gone in."
