JOHNSTON - No.3 West Des Moines Dowling scored a pair of second-half goals and upset No.2 Linn-Mar, 3-2, Friday night in girls soccer.
Dowling scored in the first minute, but Linn-Mar's Olivia Garcia countered with goals in the fourth and 16th minutes that gave the Lions a 2-1 lead they held until halftime.
Dowling scored on a free kick in the 58th minute to tie the match.
A handball in the penalty box call against Linn-Mar gave Dowling a penalty kick it converted into the winning goal in the 69th minute.
Jensen Sevening had two assists for Linn-Mar (11-2).
Linn-Mar had allowed only two goals all season before Friday night's game.
