One night after suffering its first loss of the season, Linn-Mar recorded its biggest win.
The No. 8 Lions connected on five six shots in a shootout to beat No. 6 Iowa City West, 2-1, Saturday night in a girls soccer game at Linn-Mar Stadium.
The game had started Thursday night, but was suspended in the 26th minute with no score because of severe thunderstorms.
Jensen Sevening scored a goal off an assist from Erica Noyes for Linn-Mar. West's Emma Winstead also scored in the second half and the game ended, 1-1.
Neither team scored in two overtime periods.
The shootout score was tied 4-4 after five kicks, so the match went to sudden death. Linn-Mar scored and West didn't on the sixth kick.
Molly Brandt, Olivia Garcia, Malory Garman, Sarah Fathallah and Sevening converted penalty kicks in the shootout.
Winstead, Alli Peterson, Anna Hausler and Meredith Hausler scored PKs for West.
Linn-Mar is 8-1 overall and 8-0 in the MVC. West is 8-2, 6-2.
