IOWA CITY - Maddy Ryan pitched a complete game and hit a two-run homer as Linn-Mar edged Iowa City West, 4-3, in the first game of a Mississippi Valley Conference doubleheader in Iowa City Tuesday.

Iowa City West took the second game, 4-0.

The Lions trailed, 3-2, entering the top of the seventh inning in the opener. Hannah Yearling led off with a single, was bunted to second base by Madison Rentschler and advanced to third on a groundout.

Elison Ollinger, an eighth grader, hit an RBI single to right field to tie the game. Kortlan Ollinger reached base on an error with two outs and Elison Ollinger scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch to give Linn-Mar a 4-3 lead.

Iowa City West put two runners on base in the bottom of the seventh, but Ryan got the final out on a grounder.

Christina Lincoln, an eighth grader, had two hits for Linn-Mar (3-2, 2-2) in the opener. Kortlan Ollinger had two hits for the Lions in the second game.
