Lions drop twinbill to Little Hawks

The Iowa City High Little Hawks swept a Mississippi Valley Conference softball doubleheader from Linn-Mar Tuesday, 7-3 and 11-1, at the Linn-Mar complex.

Hannah Yearling and Kortlan Ollinger went 2-for-4 for the Lions in the first game.

Linn-Mar fell to 3-8 overall and 2-4 in the MVC.

Lions lose twice in IC West tourney

IOWA CITY - Linn-Mar dropped a pair of games Saturday in the Iowa City West softball tournament.

The Lions were beaten by Centerville, 5-2, and Muscatine, 12-2. The latter game was five innings.

In the first game, eighth grader Christina Lincoln drove in both of Linn-Mar's runs. Freshman Katie Andersen took the loss.

Muscatine scored six runs in the fourth inning of the nightcap and rolled to the win. The Muskies are ranked fourth in Class 5A.

Sophomore pitcher Maddy Ryan had two hits for the Lions (3-6).

Linn-Mar softball drops pair in Iowa City

IOWA CITY - The Linn-Mar High School softball team lost both of its games in the Iowa City West tournament Friday at the University of Iowa Complex.

Bettendorf beat the Lions, 9-0, on a no-hitter. Davenport West topped the Lions, 10-5, in their second contest.

Madison Rentschler went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs against Davenport West. Alexis Kelsey, Maddy Ryan and Hannah Yearling also had two hits for Linn-Mar (3-4).

Ryan helps Lions split with IC West

IOWA CITY - Maddy Ryan pitched a complete game and hit a two-run homer as Linn-Mar edged Iowa City West, 4-3, in the first game of a Mississippi Valley Conference doubleheader in Iowa City Tuesday.

Iowa City West took the second game, 4-0.

The Lions trailed, 3-2, entering the top of the seventh inning in the opener. Hannah Yearling led off with a single, was bunted to second base by Madison Rentschler and advanced to third on a groundout.

Ryan sparks Linn-Mar past Marion

Maddy Ryan pitched a complete game and drove in three runs Friday night as Linn-Mar defeated Marion, 9-3, in a softball game at Marion.

Ryan tossed a six-hitter with seven strikeouts and allowed two earned runs. Linn-Mar (2-1) scored six runs in the top of the third inning to grab a 9-1 lead.

Kortlan Ollinger, Kelsey Duggan, Madison Rentschler and Courtney Bodensteiner had two hits for the Lions.
