MAQUOKETA - The Marion Indians got stingy pitching in a Wamac Conference doubleheader at Maquoketa Friday, but they had to settle for a split on a hot night.

Maquoketa won the first game, 1-0, on a walk-off home run by Robert River in the bottom of the seventh.

Marion captured the nightcap, 7-1, on a four-hitter by Levi Lochner and a home run by Mitch Wagner.

The Indians (19-10, 15-8) left the bases loaded in the top of the seventh inning in the opener. They wasted a good pitching performance by Tyler Hedtke, who allowed only four hits.

Chase Coakley tossed a six-hit shutout for Maquoketa in the first game.

Wagner, Dusty Albaugh and Andrew Charipar had two hits for Marion in the nightcap.
