Marion's Nielsen, Semler named all-Wamac infielders

Marion High School's double-play combination of shortstop Zach Nielsen and second baseman Kasey Semler have been named first team all-conference in the Wamac Conference West Division.

Marion Coach Steve Fish was named the West Division Co-Coach of the Year with Terry Goerdt of Waterloo Columbus.

Tyler Hedtke, Mitch Wagner and Andrew Charipar were named second team all-conference for the Indians. Byron Fish and Dusty Albaugh received honorable mention.

Marion tied Waterloo Columbus for first place in the West Division this season with 11-3 division records.

West Division Standings

Marion 11-3, Waterloo Columbus 11-3, Vinton-Shellsburg 10-4, Benton Community 8-6, Williamsburg 7-7, Clear Creek Amana 4-10, Center Point-Urbana 4-10, Independence 2-12.

East Division Standings

Solon 14-0, Dyersville Beckman 9-5, Western Dubuque 9-5, West Delaware 7-7, DeWitt Clinton 7-7, Maquoketa 5-9, Mount Vernon 5-19, Anamosa 0-14.

Wamac Overall Standings

Solon 29-1, Western Dubuque 23-7, Dyersville Beckman 22-8, DeWitt Clinton 21-8, Marion 18-12, Mount Vernon 17-13, Waterloo Columbus 17-12, West Delaware 16-12, Williamsburg 14-16, Maquoketa 13-15, Vinton-Shellsburg 12-17, Benton Community 11-18, Center Point-Urbana 10-20, Clear Creek Amana 6-22, Independence 4-26, Anamosa 1-29.
