VINTON - Lukas Mees of Marion High School won the Vinton-Shellsburg Invitational cross country race Tuesday in 17 minutes, 37 seconds.
Mees won the race by 16 seconds to help the Indians finish second in the team standings. Vinton-Shellsburg won the team championship with 66 points, nipping Marion by two points.
The Marion girls placed sixth out of 10 teams in their race. Alexis Timp was the Indians' top finisher in 18th.
