Fiser helps Marion split with Columbus

Amber Fiser is only a graduated eighth grader, but she's already making a big impact on the Marion High School softball team.

Fiser allowed only three hits Monday as the Indians trimmed Waterloo Columbus, 2-1, in the first game of a Wamac Conference doubleheader at Marion.

Columbus won the second game, 2-0.

Shortstop Michalyn Mohr, just a ninth grader, went 3-for-3 for Marion (10-9, 2-6) in the opener and drove in a run. Beth Knapp, a junior, went 2-for-3 and had the other RBI.

Brooke Craig, a freshman, tossed a three-hit shutout for Waterloo Columbus in the nightcap. Fiser had two of those hits for Marion.

Mikayla Goemaat was the hard-luck loser for the Indians, allowing only three hits herself.
