Prairie dumped by Cedar Falls

A tough season got a little tougher for the Cedar Rapids Prairie boys basketball team Tuesday night.

The Hawks made only 13 field goals and lost to Cedar Falls, 54-42, in a Mississippi Valley Conference game at Prairie.

Kentrel Smith led Prairie with 12 points. Jace Hanna scored 11.

Hanna nets 26 in losing cause

DUBUQUE - Jace Hanna poured in 26 points Friday night as Cedar Rapids Prairie lost to Dubuque Wahlert, 57-51, in a Mississippi Valley Conference game in Dubuque.

Tom Eilers scored 12 points for Prairie (3-6, 2-3).

Jared Walker led Wahlert (3-4, 3-1) with 25 points.

PRAIRIE (51): Kuchemann 1 0-0 3, Harper 1 0-0 2, Hanna 9 5-7 26, Smith 2 2-3 6, Eilers 4 2-4 12, Butz 1 0-0 2. Totals 18 9-16 51.

Prairie boys hustle past Lions

It’s as true in sports as it is in combat, that when the going gets tough the tough get going.

The Linn-Mar and Prairie boys were locked in a knock-down-drag-out battle for three quarters Friday night on the Hawks home court.

And with the win on the line, Prairie turned up the heat and the Lions melted.

“It’s very disappointing,” said Linn-Mar Coach Chris Robertson after the 46-33 defeat.  “They were clearly the tougher team. They were much more aggressive.
