Prairie girls roll past Mount Vernon

Alisa Weiland hit three 3-pointers and scored 15 points Saturday night as Cedar Rapids Prairie thumped Mount Vernon, 51-25, in a girls basketball game at Prairie.

Madison Dellamuth contributed nine points and five assists for Prairie (12-6). Courteney McCrary grabbed six rebounds.

Miranda Chapman scored 10 points for Mount Vernon (14-4). The Mustangs are led by former Kennedy coach Dennis Roloff.

Prairie girls fall to IC West in 2 OTs

IOWA CITY - Ally Disterhoft poured in 32 points Friday night as Iowa City West trimmed Cedar Rapids Prairie, 70-64, in double overtime in a Mississippi Valley Conference girls basketball marathon in Iowa City.

The future Iowa Hawkeye had a fairly quiet first half, but she came alive after intermission to help the Women of Troy improve to 13-3 overall and 8-2 in the league.

Courteney McCrary scored 17 points to lead Prairie (11-6, 7-3). Madison Dellamuth contributed 15 points for the Hawks, Alisa Weiland netted 14 and Olivia Usher had 12.

McCrary shines as Prairie tops Xavier

Cedar Rapids Prairie’s Courteney McCrary was a one-girl wrecking crew in the second half and her teammates did a nice job picking up after her Tuesday night on their home floor as the Hawks cleaned conference co-leader Xavier, 54-47.

McCrary, a rock-solid 5-foot-9 senior prone to foul trouble, knocked down seven of eight shot attempts after halftime on the way to a game-high 21 points.

While she was scoring from all angles, Prairie (11-5, 7-2 MVC) built a one-point lead into a 16-point bulge with 5:30 to go.

Prairie - Girls Basketball

Prairie girls blitz Bettendorf

Prairie built a 16-point lead by halftime and trounced Bettendorf, 59-35, Saturday in a nonconference girls basketball game at Prairie.

The Hawks (10-5) were led in scoring by Cyerra Hutchins and Courteney McCrary, who scored 11 points apiece. Olivia Usher added 10 points.

Prairie led 37-21 at halftime.

BETTENDORF (35): Holle 1 2-2 4, Moore 3 1-4 7, Finn 1 2-5 4, Levsen 1 0-0 2, Glaus 2 4-4 8, Scott 3 0-0 8, Tubbs 0 0-2 0, Buhman 1 0-0 2. Totals 12 9-17 35.

Waterloo West drubs Prairie girls

It was viewed as a battle royale between two Valley Division foes in a tight four-way bottleneck for supremacy in their division Friday night when Waterloo West came to town to take on the host Cedar Rapids Prairie Hawks.

It never happened.

The Wahawks left town with a 70-38 victory behind a massive 28-point production from Kate Letkewicz in her best offensive outing of the year.
