DUBUQUE - D.J. helped Utley the Cedar Rapids Prairie baseball team sweep Dubuque Hempstead with his arm and his bat Monday.

Utley pitched a five-hitter and slugged a home run as the Hawks topped Hempstead, 13-2, in five innings in the second game of a Mississippi Valley Conference doubleheader in Dubuque.

Prairie won the first game, 6-4.

Tyler Butz drove in three runs for the Hawks (12-13, 8-8) in the opener. Utley, Brennan Hammer and Chaz Boots had two hits.

Butz went 3-for-3 in the nightcap and scored four runs. Utley was 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs. Brayton Carlson went 2-for-2 with a homer, three runs and three RBIs. Hammer was 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Boots was 2-for-3 with four RBIs.

Hempstead fell to 13-13 overall and 9-9 in the conference.
