WEST BURLINGTON - Erin Hocker sparkled on the mound for the Kirkwood Eagles Wednesday as they split a non-conference doubleheader with Southeastern Community College.
Hocker pitched all nine innings as the fifth-ranked Eagles topped the Blackhawks, 4-1, in the first game in West Burlington.
Southeastern won the second game, 3-2, to split the twinbill.
Hocker (16-6) allowed only one run on seven hits in the 4-1 victory in the opener, with four strikeouts and no walks. Kirkwood snapped a 1-1 tie with three runs in the top of the ninth.
London Jackson went 2-for-3 and scored twice in the opener. Jessi Butler also had two hits for the Eagles.
Kirkwood held a 2-1 lead after 4 1/2 innings in the nightcap, but Southeastern scored twice in the bottom of the fifth and held on for the 3-2 victory.
The split left Kirkwood at 32-11 overall. Southeastern is 26-14.
