BURLINGTON - The reeling Cedar Rapids Kernels lost for the ninth time in their last 10 games Thursday night with a 6-2 setback against the Burlington Bees before 227 fans at Community Field in Burlington.
The Kernels collected only four hits in the ballgame. Bo Altobelli and Carlos Avila had RBIs and doubles. Avila, who joined the club Wednesday, played second base.
Felix Jorge (2-4, 8.80 ERA) was reached for five runs (four earned) in 4.1 innings. He allowed nine hits and walked four batters.
The Bees (17-21) snapped a 2-2 tie with four runs in the fifth inning.
Chad Christensen played center field for the Kernels for the first time this season. He has played all three outfield positions and first base this year.
There was a 25-minute rain delay. The teams meet again Friday night at 6:30 in Burlington.
