MARSHALLTOWN - MJ Kamin of Cedar Rapids Washington tied for second place at the Class 5A state golf meet at the Elmwood Country Club in Marshalltown Tuesday.
Kamin fired a 5-over-par 76 Tuesday and finished with a 36-hole score of 156, but she could not close the gap on Karli Kerrigan of Ankeny Centennial who the title at 151. Kamin trailed by five shots after the opening round and finished second by those same five shots.
Kamin plans to continue her golf career at Iowa State University.
The Linn-Mar Lions finished seventh in the team standings at 754. Waukee won the Class 5A title at 665.
Teresa Lopez Moreno of Linn-Mar tied for 14th with a two-day total of 87+88=175. Lopez Moreno is a foreign exchange student from Spain.
