London Jackson belted her 14th home run of the season Tuesday to help the Kirkwood Eagles dump Iowa Western, 9-1, in the first game of their non-conference doubleheader at Kirkwood.
Iowa Western won the nightcap, 11-3, in five innings.
Jackson went 3-for-3 with four RBIs and scored three runs in the 9-1 victory, which ended after six innings due to the mercy rule. She is tied for third in the country with her 14 homers.
Rachel Stewart went 2-for-4 with two runs in the victory. Lauren Klaahsen drove in two runs. Erin Hocker (15-6) pitched a complete game, allowing one run on two hits.
Iowa Western led 11-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning of Game 2. Kirkwood scored three times, but it was not enough to stay alive due to the eight-run mercy rule.
The split left the fifth-ranked Eagles at 31-10 at the NJCAA Division II level. Iowa Western is 26-16 at the NJCAA Division I level.
