The Mount Mercy baseball team swept a Heart of America Conference doubleheader from Clarke University, 4-3 and 11-4, Friday at the Plaster Athletic Conference.
The sweep lifted the Mustangs to 22-19 overall and 13-12 in the league. Clarke fell to 20-17 overall and 15-8 in the conference.
Mount Mercy trailed 3-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning in the opener. Kobi Candaroma led off with a triple and Corbin Day was hit by a pitch, putting runners on first and third with one out.
Manny Oluntunde, running for Day, stole second base. Chili Moseley had an RBI single, driving in Candaroma and chasing Oluntunde to third, but Moseley was thrown out trying to reach second base.
Evan Jackson then hit a single to center field, driving in Olutunde with the winning run with two outs for a walk-off victory.
Dylan Campbell (5-4) pitched a complete game in the 4-3 verdict. Moseley and Jackson had two hits.
The Mustangs did not need any late heroics in the 11-4 victory in the nightcap. Day went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs. Tito Berdecia also had three RBIs. Jake Faur had two hits. Nick Sueppel, Candaroma and Collin Shrader scored two runs.
Tanner Lohaus (5-4) pitched the first four innings for the victory.
