Emma Olejniczak has left the University of Northern Iowa softball program after two years and has joined the Iowa Hawkeyes, UI Coach Renee Gillispie confirmed Monday.
Olejniczak compiled an 11-17 record in two seasons as a pitcher for the Panthers. She was 5-8 with a 3.36 ERA as a freshman in 2018 and was 6-9 with a 6.38 ERA this past season.
"She has been accepted to UIowa and has her classes confirmed," Gillispie stated in response to a question from the Metro Sports Report.
Olejniczak graduated from Perry High School in 2017. She went 23-11 with a 1.28 ERA as a senior, with 356 strikeouts in 219 1/3 innings.
Olejniczak will be extending a family tradition of playing sports for the Hawkeyes. Her father, Jason Olejniczak, was a defensive back at Iowa from 1990 to 1993. An uncle, Lon Olejniczak, played football and baseball for the Hawkeyes from 1979 to 1983.
