Lions escape upset bid by Warriors

Jordan Bohannon scored 15 points Friday night and Nic Uhlir netted 14 as the Linn-Mar Lions held off Washington, 56-52, in a Mississippi Valley Conference game at Linn-Mar.

Steven Kramer led Washington with 19 points and had a chance to give the Warriors a 55-54 lead in the final seconds, but his 3-point shot rolled around the rim and fell out.

Kramer hit five 3-pointers for Washington (2-12, 2-8).

Jon Schlotterback contributed 11 points for Linn-Mar (9-6, 7-3).

Wahlert boys outlast Warriors, 64-58

Washington was unable to overcome a 10-point halftime deficit and was beeaten by Dubuque Wahlert, 64-58, Tuesday in MVC boys basketball at Washington.

Jared Printy scored 15 points to lead Washington (2-11, 2-7).

Cordell Pemsl scored 22 points to lead Wahlert (11-2, 9-1).

Warriors whacked by Waukee

WAUKEE – Nate Gehring scored a game-high 18 points and had eight rebounds, while teammate Michael Jacobson compiled 15 points and 12 rebounds to No. 8-ranked Waukee to a 58-34 win over Cedar Rapids Washington Saturday in non-conference boys basketball.

Jacobson scored nine points in the first quarter to propel Waukee (10-2) to an early 21-3 lead.

Tigers top Wash, hit 82% of shots

CEDAR FALLS - The Washington Warriors scored only four points in the fourth quarter Friday night and lost to Cedar Falls, 59-43, in a Mississippi Valley Conference boys basketball game in Cedar Falls.

Cedar Falls enjoyed an uncanny shooting night, hitting 23 of 28 attempts from the floor for 82.1 percent.

The Warriors trailed by only two points, 41-39, entering the final quarter, but the Tigers (6-7, 4-5) outscored their guests 18-4 to win convincingly.

Jared Printy made three 3-pointers and scored 15 points for Washington (2-9, 2-5).

Warriors fall to Western Dubuque

EPWORTH - The Washington Warriors were beaten by a three-man gang Saturday.

Spencer Haldeman, Nolan Baumhover and Cole Otting scored all 62 of their team's points as Western Dubuque topped Washington, 62-56, in a non-conference basketball game in Epworth.

Haldeman collected 32 points, eight rebounds and four assists for Western Dubuque. Baumhover contributed 17 points and eight rebounds. Otting furnished 13 points.
