Janay Pritchett found a small mess in the Washington locker room before the Warriors' Dec. 17 basketball game against Jefferson, so she grabbed a bucket of soapy water and a mop and took care of it.

“I just cleaned it up,” she said, without fuss.

That chore accomplished, Pritchett helped the No.5 Warriors mop up the J-Hawks with 18 points in a 71-42 victory at the Washington gym in a Mississippi Valley Conference game.

Pritchett, a 5-foot-6 senior, scored her team-high 18 points off the bench as the Warriors improved to 8-0 overall and 5-0 in the league.  She hit three 3-pointers and supplied a ton of energy.

“I’m there to give a spark off the bench,” she said. “That’s what my coach told me to do, so I did it.”

Washington slapped a fullcourt, trapping press against the young J-Hawks and raced to an early 25-10 lead, forcing a string of turnovers and turning them into easy layups. Jefferson (3-5, 3-3) was helpless to stop the onslaught.

Jazz Royster scored 13 points for Washington and Tia Dawson added 10 before fouling out.

Taylor Jacobson led Jefferson with 18 points. Jacobson picked up four fouls in the first half, but never fouled out.
