Former Cedar Rapids Washington pitcher Dakota Freese has transferred from LSU Eunice to Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC).
Freese, a 6-foot-4 righthander, was academically ineligible this season at LSU Eunice, which has one of the top junior college baseball programs in the country.
Freese was an all-state player at Washington and was selected in the 34th round of the 2011 Major League draft by the Chicago White Sox. He did not sign with the White Sox and enrolled at LSU Eunice instead.
Freese hopes to be selected in the 2012 draft that will be held June 4-6 and possibly sign a pro contract. If not, he plans to play at DMACC next season.
