No.3 Warriors punish Cougars, 41-7

To say the Washington football team has a variety of weapons would be an understatement.

Coach Paul James has depth in the backfield, depth at receiver, depth at quarterback and a deep, talented offensive line with a pair of Division I-caliber starters in Iowa State commit Julian Good-Jones and Royal Silver.

And that is just the offense.

Washington got touchdowns from six different players on offense while the defense held the Cougars in check in a 41-7 victory.

Warriors outlast pesky J-Hawks, 43-26

Almost 47 years to the day, Jefferson All-Americans John Blessman and Doug Lane returned together to the Kingston Stadium sidelines Friday night for a football game with Washington.

Blessman came from the Amanas, Lane from California.

The last time they were there the Warriors beat their heralded undefeated team to break the J-Hawks' 37-game win streak.

The two old gladiators gave a pep talk to this year’s rejuvinated Jefferson squad and came close to getting revenge for that bitter loss nearly a half-century ago.

Warriors look good with Snitker at helm

Reid Snitker reported for the first day of football practice at Washington High School last season and found out he wasn't going to be a receiver for the Warriors anymore.

Nope, he was going to become a full-time quarterback. And what's more, he was going to be the starting quarterback.

Right now. Today. This minute.

"It was pretty tough," Snitker says now, "but you have to adapt, I guess."

He adapted quite well, thank-you.
