Wash, Prairie headed for soccer showdown

The Cedar Rapids Washington and Cedar Rapids Prairie boys soccer teams continued to climb in the rankings Tuesday, just in time for their big showdown Thursday night.

Washington jumped from No.10 to No.3 in Class 3A after upending then top-ranked Iowa City West. Prairie climbed one notch from No.7 to No.6 after winning the Linn-Mar tournament.

The Warriors and Hawks are scheduled to clash Thursday at 7 p.m. at Prairie.

Kennedy is ranked No.10 in Class 3A this week and Linn-Mar is ranked No.14. West Des Moines Valley topped the poll, furnished by the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association.

The Xavier Saints climbed one spot from No.3 to No.2 in Class 2A this week. Dubuque Wahlert topped the 2A rankings.
