Washington - Boys Soccer

No.10 Warriors trim Wahlert, 2-1

DUBUQUE - Jacob Bjornsen and Kimu Kasha scored goals Monday as the 10th-ranked Washington Warriors edged Dubuque Wahlert, 2-1, in a Mississippi Valley Conference game played at Loras College.

Austin Bergstrom picked up an assist for the Warriors.

Warriors stun top-ranked West boys in soccer

Washington played top-ranked Iowa City West to a scoreless tie in regulation, then outscored the Trojans 3-1 on penalty kicks for a stunning Mississippi Valley Conference boys soccer win Thursday night at Kingston Stadium.

Washington is ranked No.10 in Class 3A.

No.12 Warriors kick Davenport Central

The 12th-ranked Cedar Rapids Washington boys soccer team spanked Davenport Central, 4-0, in its season opener at Kingston Stadium Monday night.

Jack Sundermann and Kimu Kasha scored two goals apiece for the Warriors.

Austin Bergstrom collected two assists and Evan Fisher had one assist.

4 Metro boys soccer teams make rankings

Four Cedar Rapids Metro boys soccer teams have made the preseason rankings, the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association announced Wednesday.

The Xavier Saints are ranked No.3 in Class 2A.

Kennedy is ranked No.10 in Class 3A, Cedar Rapids Washington is ranked No.12 and Prairie is ranked No.15.

Iowa City West, the defending state champion, is ranked No.1 in Class 3A. Dubuque Wahlert, another defending state champ, is No.2 in Class 2A.

Washington - Boys Soccer

Bergstrom named All-American in soccer

Cedar Rapids Washington senior Austin Bergstrom has been named an All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Bergstrom collected eight goals and six assists for the Warriors last season when they finished with an 11-8 record. He was honored as a midfielder.

A total of 77 players were named to the All-American team. To be selected, an athlete must play for a school whose coach is an NSCAA member.
