No. 16 Wash kickers trade 2-1 games

The 16th-ranked Cedar Rapids Washington boys soccer team traded a pair of tight Mississippi Valley Conference victories in Blackhawk County on Saturday.

The Warriors trimmed No. 10 Cedar Falls, 2-1, on goals by Kimu Kasha and Flynn Heald Saturday morning. Austin Bergstrom and Jacob Jensen had the assists.

The Warriors lost to No. 13 Waterloo West, 2-1, Saturday afternoon. Jack Sundermann scored for Washington and Heald had the assist.

Warriors blank Dubuque Senior in boys soccer

Kimu Kasha scored two goals to power Cedar Rapids Washington past Dubuque Senior, 3-0, Tuesday night in a boys soccer game at Kingston Stadium.

Austin Bergstrom scored a goal and also had an assist for the Warriors (3-4, 2-1). Jack Sundermann also had an assist for Washington.

Dubuque Senior is 2-3 overall, 1-3 in the MVC.

Warriors fall to No. 6 City High, 5-1

IOWA CITY - Fernando Pacheco scored three goals Thursday as sixth-ranked Iowa City High defeated Washington, 5-1, in a Mississippi Valley Conference soccer match in Iowa City.

Austin Bergstrom scored the only goal for the Warriors. Tyler Chavez and Alejandro Pacheco had goals for the Little Hawks.

Warriors topple No. 1 Trojans on Mangold goal

Washington's Daren Mangold's goal in overtime capped a remarkable comeback that lifted Washington past No. 1 Iowa City West, 3-2, Monday night in a boys soccer game at Kingston Stadium.

Mangold's goal was his second of the game and capped the Warriors' rally from a two-goal deficit.

Iowa City West (4-1, 1-1 MVC) built a 2-0 lead in the first half on goals by Bryton Ostler and Alex Troester.

Washington (2-3, 1-0) cut the lead to 2-1 by halftime, thanks to a penalty kick by Austin Bergstrom.

Mangold's goal off an assist by Kimu Kasha tied the game in the second half and it went to overtime.

 

Washington 3, Iowa City West 2 (OT)

Goals: ICW -- Bryton Ostler, Alex Troester; CRW -- Austin Bergstrom, Daren Mangold 2. Assists: ICW -- Mueng Sunday; CRW -- Kimu Kasha.

Warriors beat Central in boys soccer

DAVENPORT - Mike Eken and Kimu Kasha scored goals to lead No. 5 Washington past Davenport Central, 2-1, Monday night in boys soccer.

Daren Mangold and Jack Sundermann had assists for the Warriors (1-3).

Washington won the sophomore game, 2-1.
