Wash swimmers dunk Dubuque Senior

Josh Hughes won four events and Washington outdueled Dubuque Senior, 94-76, Tuesday in boys swimming at Washington.

Hughes won the 200 and 500 freestyle events, besting teammate Morgan Barnes in both. He and Barnes also swam on the winning 200 and 400 free relays.

Ian Ford was a triple-winner for the Warriors, winning the 200 individual medley and 100 back, and swimming on the 400 free relay.

Senior's Josh Gill also won three events. He took the 50 free and 100 butterfly and swam anchor on the 200 medley relay.

Washington swimmers sweep City High

IOWA CITY - Josh Hughes, Ian Ford and Scott Allison were double-winners in individual events Tuesday as Cedar Rapids Washington won all 11 races and drubbed Iowa City High, 126-44, in a Mississippi Valley Conference swim meet in Iowa City.

Hughes won the 200 free and 500 free, Ford captured the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke, and Allison claimed the 50 free and 100 free.

Hughes leads Warriors past Bettendorf tankers

BETTENDORF -- Josh Hughes won four events, and Ian Ford and Morgan Barnes three apiece to lead Washington past Bettendorf, 94-76, Tuesday in boys swimming.

Hughes upset Barnes in the 200 freestyle, besting his teammate by .67 seconds. Hughes also won the 100 free and swam on the winning 200 and 400 free relays.

Barnes won the 500 free and also swam on the 200 and 400 free relays.

Ford won the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke. He was on the winning 400 free relay.

Washington's Gene Nassif won the 500 free for the Warriors' other victory.

Warriors swamp Cougar swimmers, 122-48

Ian Ford, Josh Hughes and Morgan Barnes were quadruple winners and Washington swamped Kennedy, 122-48, Thursday night in a boys swimming meet at Washington.

Ford won the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke, and swam on the winning 200 and 400 freestyle relays.

Hughes won the 200 free and 500 free, and also swam on the 200 and 400 free relays.

Barnes swam on three winning relays - the 200 medley, and 200 and 400 free relays - and won the 100 free.

Jared Thorson was a triple winner for the Warriors, winning the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke, and the 400 free relay.

Kennedy's Chandler Heisler won the 50 free for the Cougars' lone win.
