Xavier thumped by Western Dubuque, 55-39

Cameron James poured in 26 points Saturday night and T.L. Lake added 15 as the Western Dubuque Bobcats spanked Xavier, 55-39, in a non-conference basketball game at Xavier.

James and Lake combined for 41 points, outscoring the Saints all by themselves.

James, a 6-foot-4 senior, more than doubled his normal output of 12.4 points with a succession of field goals near the basket for Western Dubuque (7-2).

Mack Mattke led Xavier (2-7) with 11 points. The Saints trailed 29-21 at halftime, thanks in part to careless passes that led to easy Western Dubuque baskets.

Xavier scored only four points in the third quarter and trailed, 40-25, entering the final stanza.
