Ramlo's goal lifts Saints by Wash

Connor Ramlo tapped in a rebound for the only goal of the game Tuesday as the Xavier Saints topped Washington, 1-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference soccer meet at breezy Heco Field.

Ryan Persick shot from 25 yards for the Saints to begin the scoring play. Washington goal-keeper Gunnar Lenzen stopped the shot, but the loose ball came to Hoffman for the putback.

The game was affected by a strong northeast wind, so each team dominated in one of the halves with the wind at its back.

Xavier is ranked No. 4 in Class 2A. Washington is ranked No.6  in Class 3A.
