The Xavier girls soccer team was defeated by Iowa City West, 2-1, in a PK shootout at Xavier Tuesday.

Kayla Armstrong gave the Saints a 1-0 lead in the first half on an assist from Marisa Berutti. It was Armstrong's sixth goal of the season.

Iowa City West tied the game, 1-1, with 12:24 remaining in the first half.

Both teams made three goals in the shootout. Iowa City West made its shot in sudden death and Xavier missed, giving West the victory.

The Saints (4-1) are ranked No.1 in Class 2A. Iowa City West is ranked No.7 in Class 3A.

Sara Chicchelly made eight saves for Xavier.
