MUSCATINE -- Top-ranked Xavier scored three goals in a penalty kick shootout and escaped Muscatine, 2-1, Monday night in a nonconference girls soccer game.

Kayla Armstrong, Katelyn Winker and Mary Levette scored in the shootout to lift Xavier (7-2) to the win.

Armstrong also had a goal in regulation.

Xavier keeper  Sara Chicchelly had seven saves.
