Armstrong's goal lifts Saints in 2OT

Kayla Armstrong's goal with 5:45 left in the second overtime lifted No.1 Xavier past Muscatine, 2-1, Monday in girls soccer at Xavier.

Monica Busse staked Xavier to a 1-0 lead. She scored with 30:06 left in the first half off an assist from Jenny Dickes.

Muscatine scored a tying goal with 21:46 left in the first half.

Armstrong's 4 goals lead Xavier girls

WATERLOO - Kayla Armstrong scored four goals to lead top-ranked Xavier past Waterloo West, 10-0, Thursday in girls soccer.

Sami Shepard added two goals for the Saints and also had two assists.

Marisa Berutti, Monica Busse, Brylee Bastain and Sydney Wright also had goals for Xavier.

Armstrong and Wright added two assists. Bastain, Busse and Berutti had one assist apiece.

Xavier put 31 shots on goal, West two.

 

Xavier - Girls Soccer

No.1 Saints topped by Iowa City West

The Xavier girls soccer team was defeated by Iowa City West, 2-1, in a PK shootout at Xavier Tuesday.

Kayla Armstrong gave the Saints a 1-0 lead in the first half on an assist from Marisa Berutti. It was Armstrong's sixth goal of the season.

Iowa City West tied the game, 1-1, with 12:24 remaining in the first half.

Xavier - Girls Soccer

Berutti & Armstrong lead Saints to soccer win

Marissa Berutti and Kayla Armstrong teamed up for a pair of goals that led Class 2A No.1 Xavier past Bettendorf, 2-0, Saturday morning at Prairie.

Berutti scored on a header off a pass from Armstrong with 37:45 remaining in the first half.

Armstrong scored off a pass from Berutti with 7:31 left in the game.

Xavier put only four shots on goal in the match, but converted two. Betttendorf put 13 shots on goal and Xavier keeper Sara Chicchelly deflected all of them.

The game was switched from Xavier's field to the artificial surface at Prairie.

 

Xavier - Girls Soccer

No.1 Xavier girls blank Jefferson, 2-0

Kayla Armstrong and Sammi Shepard scored goals to lead No.1 Xavier past Jefferson, 2-0, Tuesday in girls soccer at Lower Kingston.

Armstrong's goal with 27:41 remaining in the first half gave the Saints a 1-0 lead at halftime. Shepard scored an insurance goal with 12:31 left in the game.

Shepard and Marisa Berutti had assists.

Xavier took 34 shots, 10 on goal. Jefferson got off only five shots, three on goal. The J-Hawks did not put a shot on goal in the second half.

Jefferson keeper Madison Weber had eight saves.
