Wash girls nip Saints in tennis

Lilly Hartman and Kitty McGurk won a marathon tiebreaker at No.2 doubles Tuesday to help Washington edge Xavier, 5-4, in girls tennis.

Hartman and McGurk defeated Jeanne Bouchard and Claire Bouchard, 11-10, by winning the tiebreaker in the 21st game, 11-9. That gave the Warriors their fifth team point and the victory.

The Mississippi Valley Conference meet began at Washington High School but finished indoors at Elmcrest Country Club due to darkness.
