The football gods continued to frown on the Marion Indians on Friday night.
The Indians lost to Maquoketa, 14-0, in a Class 3A district game at Thomas Park for their 14th straight loss over the past two years.
Kory Walsh rushed for 153 yards for Marion, giving the senior a total of 751 yards on 107 carries this year.
"Kory Walsh runs hard all the time," said Marion coach Tony Perkins, who appreciates the effort.
Walsh was impressed with Maquoketa's defense.
"They are a very physical team," he said. "They come out and smack you."
Friday's game was scoreless at halftime. Maquoketa scored in the third quarter on a 30-yard pass from Justin Snyder to Kyle Schiffer. Snyder broke loose for a 35-yard touchdown in the fourth stanza.
Marion fell to 0-6 this season.
"Our defense played very well and probably played our best defense of the year in the first half," Perkins said. "We've got to keep on them. Never give up.
"As coaches we believe in them and we need to continue to have the players believe in themselves."
Walsh said the Indians will continue to play hard.
"We just need to get more disciplined and capitalize on the little things," he said. "Our team needs to stay positive and things will improve."
