A furious rally fell a little short for the Mount Mercy men's basketball team Saturday afternoon.
Baker trimmed the Mustangs, 82-78, in a Heart of America Conference game that came down to the final seconds at the Hennessey Recreation Center.
Mount Mercy trailed by 22 points, 61-39, early in the second half, but the Mustangs caught fire and pulled within 80-78 on a 3-pointer by Streeter McIlravy with 15 seconds left.
Baker hit two free throws with 10 seconds remaining for the final four-point margin.
Davarea Loggins and Davion Watson scored 12 points apiece for the Mustangs (5-6, 2-5). DJ Johnson contributed 11 points. RoyShawn Webb and McIlravy added 10 points apiece.
Xavier Elam scored 21 points for Baker (6-7, 4-4).
