Metro preps sign with favorite colleges

Iowa, Arizona State, Cal-Berkeley.

Minnesota, Northern Iowa, Western Michigan.

Those were just some of the schools that expected to receive signatures Wednesday from dozens of high school seniors in the Metro area who plan to continue their athletic careers in college.

The fall signing period for national letters-of-intent began Wednesday and there was plenty of activity at Metro schools.

Linn-Mar honored six college-bound athletes in the media center after school Wednesday as Jordan Bohannon (Iowa basketball), Amber Decker (Iowa track), AJ Geers (Penn wrestling), Stephanie Jenks (Cal-Berkeley track and cross country), Amanda Ollinger (Iowa basketball) and Jared Printy (Western Michigan basketball) signed their national letters.

Kennedy had a reception for nine college-bound athletes in the cafeteria after school with Lela Sellers (Liberty basketball), Tianna Drahn (Northern Iowa softball), Peyton Baskerville (Mount Mercy softball), Anna Fluent (Loyola volleyball), Brinley Milbrath (Northern Illinois volleyball), Macy Anderson (Nebraska-Omaha volleyball), Val Davidson (Mount Mercy golf), Sierra Hargens (Indiana State golf) and Kirsten Siebenga (Minnesota State-Mankato swimming) made their choices official.

Two Jefferson athletes plan to sign with Spencer VanScoyoc going to Arizona State for baseball and Jasmine Blue joining Northern Iowa for track.

Two of Prairie's top athletes will be making the move to college. Kate Busswitz will play volleyball at Northern Iowa and Kenzie Soeken plans to play volleyball and run track at Upper Iowa.
