Defending state champion Cedar Rapids Kennedy is ranked No. 6 in the final Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association Class 4A baseball poll released Saturday.

The Cougars (30-8) beat Cedar Rapids Jefferson, 7-3, in Friday's Class 4A substate first round and are one win away from returning to the state tournament.

Xavier (26-10) is ranked No. 7. The Saints beat Dubuque Senior, 5-1, Friday night. They host Dubuque Hempstead in a substate semifinal Monday and the winner of that game will play at Kennedy on Wednesday.

West Des Moines Dowling is ranked No. 1 in the Class 4A poll.

Eighth-ranked Pleasant Valley was the only No. 1 seed in Class 4A to lose its first-round substate game.

Solon is ranked No. 1 in Class 3A, followed by Dubuque Wahlert.
