Kennedy dropped three spots and Marion two, while Xavier climbed into this week's volleyball polls released by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.

Kennedy (7-2) is fifth in this week's Class 4A poll after a loss to Class 3A No. 2 Wahlert (2-1) Tuesday at Kennedy.

Marion (5-3) dipped to 12th in 3A despite finishing second to No. 6 Solon (10-0) in the Cedar Rapids Washington Invitational last weekend. The Indians took the Spartans to a third set tiebreaker before losing, then bounced back and beat Clear Creek Amana in five sets Tuesday.

Xavier (5-2) made its first appearance in the 4A poll at No. 13.

Iowa City High (6-0) moved ahead of Ankeny (6-1) and into the top spot in Class 4A. Other Mississippi Valley Conference teams ranked are No. 6 Iowa City West (8-2), No. 8 Cedar Falls (6-2) and No. 11 Dubuque Hempstead (2-1).

Sioux City Heelan is No. 1 in Class 3A. Marion and Solon are among six Wamac Conference teams ranked.

Western Christian is No. 1 in Class 2A and Tripoli No. 1 in Class 1A.
