Former Marion prep Matt Holland was taken by the Philadelphi Phillies in the 22nd round. Holland recently completed his college career at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Three Iowa preps were selected. Mason City pitcher Brandon Platts went to the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 13th round, Solon outfielder Derrick Loveless to the Toronto Blue Jays in round 27, and Mount Pleasant pitcher Braden Shull to the Phillies in the 27th round.  Platts has signed a letter of intent with Missouri, Loveless with Iowa and Shull with Kansas State.
