Cedar Valley boys fall by 20 points

WHEATLAND - The Cedar Valley Christian boys basketball team had a tough night shooting the basketball Friday and lost to Calamus-Wheatland, 73-53, in Wheatland.

Will Muhlbach led the Huskies (11-8) with 22 points. David Sperling scored 12 points and Jeremy Strutz had 10.

Jake Janssen paced Calamus-Wheatland (9-10) with 22 points and Landon Goettsch notched 18.

CEDAR VALLEY (53): Henderson 1 2-2 4, Landis 1 0-1 2, Long 0 1-2 1, Muhlbach 8 6-9 22, Sperling 4 4-5 12, Strutz 5 0-0 10, Zielke 0 2-2 2. Totals 19 15-21 53.

Cedar Valley Christian - Boys Basketball

Cedar Valley pounds Mid-Prairie, 56-27

WELLMAN - David Sperling scored 18 points Tuesday night as Cedar Valley Christian dunked Mid-Prairie, 56-27, in a boys basketball game in Wellman.

Nick Henderson contributed 13 points for the Huskies (11-7). Cedar Valley has won three straight games and five out of six.

Jaemin Powell led Mid-Prairie (3-15) with 11 points.

Cedar Valley's home game against Alburnett in the Class 1A district tournament Feb. 16 will be played at Marion High School instead of at Cedar Valley to accomodate more fans, it was announced Tuesday.

CEDAR VALLEY (56): Henderson 4 5-6 13, Landis 1 0-0 2, Long 2 2-4 6, Muhlbach 1 5-9 7, Sperling 5 8-9 18, Strutz 1 1-2 3, Zielke 1 4-5 6, Nugent 0 1-2 1. Totals 15 26-39 56.

Huskies trip Janesville for 10th win

JANESVILLE - Spencer Zielke and Will Muhlbach topped a balanced scoring attack with 10 points apiece Monday night as Cedar Valley Christian defeated Janesville, 50-35.

David Sperling scored nine points, Jeremy Strutz collected eight points and Nick Henderson had seven points for the Huskies (10-7).

Nick Watson scored 19 points for Janesville (10-8).

Cedar Valley Christian learned Monday that it will host Alburnett in the first round of the Class 1A district tournament on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. It will be only the third home game for the Huskies this season.

Huskies top NU High for 9th win

CEDAR FALLS - Nick Henderson topped a balanced attack with 15 points Saturday as Cedar Valley trimmed Northern University High School of Cedar Falls, 63-59.

Will Muhlbach and Jeremy Strutz scored 13 points apiece as the Huskies raised their record to 9-7. David Sperling chipped in 10 points and Jon Landis scored nine.

Eric Hines led NU High (12-6) with 17 points. Charlie Nuhn scored 16 points and Tommy Amlie had 13.

CEDAR VALLEY (63): Henderson 4 7-10 15, Landis 2 5-7 9, Long 0 0-0 0, Muhlbach 5 3-6 13, Sperling 4 2-4 10, Strutz 4 4-5 13, Zielke 1 0-0 3. Totals 20 21-32 63.

Poor shooting sinks CVC boys at Northeast

GOOSE LAKE -- Poor-shooting doomed Cedar Valley Christian in its boys basketball game against Northeast on Tuesday.

Cedar Valley was 16 of 53 from two-point range and fell to Northeast, 63-42.

Jeremy Strutz led Cedar Valley (8-7) with 10 points.

Mitchell Haferbier scored 24 points for Northeast.
