Hembera nets 16 as CVC girls tumble

MONTEZUMA - Shelby Hembera scored 16 points Friday night for Cedar Valley Christian in a 37-22 loss at Montezuma.

Emily Long led Montezuma (5-1) with 13 points and Brynna Steele scored 10. Montezuma led 18-17 at halftime, then held Cedar Valley to five points in the second half.

Cedar Valley Christian (0-3) has only five girls on its active roster, but manager Taylor Fields made her first appearance of the season after Lindsey Cach fouled out. Fields wears a uniform and is available for emergencies.
