Hembera is the hero for Cedar Valley

MONTEZUMA - The Cedar Valley Christian girls basketball team trailed by four points with less than 10 seconds left against Montezuma Tuesday night and it looked hopeless.

That's when Shelby Hembera, a scoring machine all night, took over and led the Huskies to a thrilling 40-39 victory.

Hembera scored, got fouled and made the free throw to pull Cedar Valley within 39-38 in the final seconds, but she wasn't done yet.

Cedar Valley nudged by Wapsie Valley, 46-45

SHELLSBURG - Two girls basketball teams in desperate need of a victory met in Shellsburg Saturday and played a tight game.

Unfortunately for Cedar Valley Christian, it fell one point short.

Haley Risse and Abrah Meyer led a balanced attack with eight points apiece as Wapsie Valley denied the Huskies, 46-45.

Shelby Hembera led Cedar Valley (1-14) with 25 points. Lindsey Cach contributed 11 points.

Hembera nets 21 as Cedar Valley tumbles

CLINTON - Shelby Hembera scored 21 points Friday night as the Cedar Valley Christian girls basketball team lost to Prince of Peace, 67-40, in Clinton.

Lindsay Cach scored 11 points for Cedar Valley (1-13).

Jackie Kokjohn led Prince of Peace with 16 points.

Cedar Valley girls fall at English Valleys

NORTH ENGLISH - Shelby Hembera scored 19 points Thursday night as Cedar Valley Christian lost to English Valleys, 50-37, in a girls basketball game in North English.

Izzy Hoffman contributed seven points for the Huskies (1-12).

Lauren Miller hit three 3-pointers and scored 16 points for English Valleys (11-8). Madison Parmenter added 14 points.
