Huskies put away Northeast with 2nd-half spurt

Cedar Valley Christian scored four goals in the final 28 minutes of the game and beat Northeast, 5-1, Friday in boys soccer at Tuma.

Jon Landis scored a pair of goals to lead the Huskies (4-2).

The score was tied 1-1 at halftime. Landis' unassisted goal in the 52nd minute broke the tie and he added a goal 10 minutes later. The Huskies added goals by Kameron Smith and Tom Scroggs.

Cedar Valley took a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute of the game after Scroggs played a cross in front of the Northeast goal and the Rebels knocked it into their own goal.

Northeast's Kyle Koch tied the game with a goal in the 15th minute.

Both teams had only two shots on goal that did not score. Cedar Valley defender David Sperling blocked both Northeast misses.
