Landis goal in 2nd OT lifts CVC to win

CLINTON -- Jon Landis' goal in the second overtime lifted Cedar Valley Christian past Prince of Peace, 3-2, Thursday in boys soccer.

Alex Kennedy and Kameron Smith also scored goals for Cedar Valley.

Prince of Peace took a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute on Travis Witt's goal.

Kennedy's penalty kick tied the game, 1-1, in the 65th minute. Five minutes later Kennedy played a ball through to Smith, who redirected it into the back of the net for a 2-1 lead.

Prince of Peace tied the game in the 77th minute on Danny Kim's breakaway goal.

Early in the second overtime Landis shot a rising ball that hit the bottom of the bar and landed just across the goal line. Kennedy and Arturo Melendez both were credited with assists.

Cedar Valley keeper Brandon Fields had four saves and David Sperling had two non-keeper saves.
