SPRINGVILLE - Shelby Hembera collected 40 points, 19 rebounds, six blocks, three steals and two assists for the Cedar Valley Christian girls basketball team Thursday night in a 61-44 loss to Alburnett.
"It wasn't her career high, but it was the best game of her career," said CVC Coach Craig Foote. "That's better than LeBron James' best game this year and he gets 16 extra minutes."
The 17-point loss was the closest game of the year for the Huskies, who fell to 0-14.
Emily Masterson scored a career-high four points for the Huskies. Megan Slagle appeared in her second game for the short-handed club because Soo Lee was not available due to illness.
"Megan Slagle came off the cheerleading team to play for us," Foote reported.
Taylor Huber scored 21 points for Alburnett (8-6).
