Robinson leads No. 8 Eagles by Sauk Valley

PEORIA, Ill. - Freshman Leah Robinson poured in 23 points Thursday afternoon as the eighth-ranked Kirkwood women's basketball team drubbed Sauk Valley, 98-39, in the opening round of the Illinois Central Holiday Tournament.

Robinson, a 6-foot-1 forward from Evanston, Ill., canned 10 of 13 shots from the field and scored her career-best for the Eagles.

Tay Wilson contributed 15 points, five assists and three steals for Kirkwood. Tinee'sha Coleman scored 14 points. Arika Wooldridge had 11 points and seven rebounds. Christmas Puok grabbed 10 rebounds.

Kirkwood (11-3) advanced to the semifinals of the tournament Friday at 2 p.m.

KCC women fall to Chi-Town All-Stars

SOUTH HOLLAND, Ill. - The sixth-ranked Kirkwood women's basketball team lost to the Chi-Town All-Stars, 74-67, in the second round of the South Suburban Christmas Classic Saturday afternoon.

Awal Ajak tossed in 16 points with four 3-pointers for the Eagles and was named to the all-tournament team.

Leah Robinson scored 12 points for the Eagles, who fell to 10-3 for the campaign. Megan Axcell contributed nine points and seven rebounds. Olivia Usher had five assists.

Kirkwood - Womens Basketball

No. 6 Kirkwood women roll by Joliet

SOUTH HOLLAND, Ill. - Olivia Usher tossed in 15 points Friday evening and Tay Wilson added 14 as the sixth-ranked Kirkwood women's basketball team dumped Joliet Junior College, 89-59, at a tournament in the Chicago suburbs.

Leah Robinson scored 10 points as the Eagles raised their record to 10-2. Awal Ajak hit three 3-pointers and scored nine points. Megan Axcell also contributed nine points.

Kirkwood faces Highland Community College in the second round of the tournament Saturday at 1 p.m.

Joliet fell to 11-2 with the setback.

Kirkwood - Womens Basketball

Wooldridge paces No. 7 Eagles by Blazers

QUINCY, Ill. - Arika Wooldridge scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds Saturday afternoon as the seventh-ranked Kirkwood Eagles topped John Wood, 55-37, in a non-conference women's basketball game.

Megan Axcell popped in three 3-pointers and netted 11 points for Kirkwood, which raised its record to 9-2. Tay Wilson collected six assists and Olivia Usher had four steals.

The Eagles defeated John Wood, 75-36, at Kirkwood Nov. 15 to sweep the season series.

No. 7 Eagles stroll by Marshalltown

The seventh-ranked Kirkwood women's basketball team built a 33-point lead at halftime Wednesday night and cruised to a 75-43 victory over Marshalltown at Johnson Hall.

Megan Axcell and Leah Robinson scored 10 points apiece for the Eagles in a balanced attack. Awal Ajak, Mackenzie Jenkins and Tinee'sha Coleman contributed nine points.

Kirkwood punished Marshalltown 26-5 in the second quarter to take a commanding 51-18 lead at halftime. Kirkwood's biggest lead was 35 points early in the second half.

The Eagles raised their record to 8-2 with the victory.

Kirkwood was ranked No. 1 in the nation in the preseason poll, but the Eagles have fallen to No. 7 in the first poll of the regular season after dropping two games.
