CHICAGO - Cedar Rapids scored a short-handed goal in the first period and on a power-play in the third Sunday and beat Chicago, 4-2, in a USHL game.
The win was the RoughRiders' second in less than 24 hours. They beat Green Bay in a shootout Saturday night in Green Bay, Wis.
The RoughRiders (25-14-2) were playing their third game in as many days. They lost in a shootout at home to Eastern Conference leader Indiana on Friday.
Cedar Rapids opened the scoring when Andrew Oglevie scored off an assist from Dylan McLaughlin 11:31 into the first period. The RoughRiders were playing short-handed following a boarding penalty by Kevin Shand.
McLaughlin's second-period goal gave the RoughRiders a 2-0 lead. He was assisted by Alec Marsh and Ivan Provorov.
Chicago (19-19-3) cut the Riders' lead to 2-1 when it scored on a power play with 12:43 left in the third period.
The RoughRiders answered with their own power play. Provorov scored off assists from Andrew Poturalski and Judd Peterson.
Chicago pulled within 3-2, scoring on another power play with 4:09 left to play.
Corey Petrash's goal with 1:14 to play iced the win for the RoughRiders.
Cedar Rapids is idle until Friday when it travels up I-380 for a date with the Western Conference leading Waterloo BlackHawks.
The RoughRiders play at home next Saturday night against Dubuque.
