The Kirkwood Eagles won a pair of ballgames in vastly different ways Saturday against Southwestern at the Kirkwood field.
First came a 7-6 squeaker with a four-run rally in the bottom of the seventh, then came a 15-2 laugher in five innings.
The twin-killing raised Kirkwood's records to 20-13 overall and 8-6 in the conference. Southwestern fell to 8-21 overall and 4-10 in the league.
Shortstop Sulliam Rios Reyes went 6-for-8 for Kirkwood in the twinbill.
Southwestern grabbed a 6-0 lead in the third inning of the opener against Nick Drahozal, but Drahozal shut the door after that and the Eagles rallied. Kirkwood pulled within 6-3 in the fourth inning, then won the game with its four-run outburst in the seventh.
Austin Saikal went 2-for-3 with a home run and two runs scored in the opener for the Eagles. Rios Reyes was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Bryce Grimm went 2-for-3 and Hayden Sloane scored two runs.
Drahozal went the distance and got the victory.
Kirkwood cruised in the nightcap and led 11-0 after three innings. Rios Reyes went 4-for-4 and scored four times. Randy Perez was 3-for-4 with five RBIs.
Ozzie Adams went 2-for-3 with two RBIs in the second game. Brandon Brittain hit a home run and drove in two runs. Saikal was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Toran Shahidi drove in two runs and Zach Patterson scored three runs.
Austin Clemens pitched all five innings in the nightcap for the victory.
