Matt Gosiewski scored on a power play in the third period Friday night to snap a 3-3 tie and help the RoughRiders nip Chicago, 4-3, in a USHL game before 2,013 fans at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.
The RoughRiders jumped to a 3-0 lead on goals by Johnny DeRoche, Jacob Hayhurst and Luke Morgan, but the Steel answered with three straight goals of their own to forge a 3-3 tie.
Gosiewski snapped the tie with an assist from Hayhurst at the 12:42 mark of the final stanza.
Ben Blacker made 20 saves in goal for Cedar Rapids. DeRoche had two assists in addition to his goal.
The RoughRiders raised their record to 15-6-1 for 31 points, good for first place in the Eastern Conference. Chicago fell to 10-11 for 24 points.
