DEFIANCE, Ohio - Cam Cowan pitched five strong innings Saturday as the ninth-ranked Kirkwood baseball team defeated Cuyahoga Community College, 16-9, in Ohio.
The Eagles compiled a 2-1 record in the three-game series.
Cowan allowed only one hit in five shutout innings, with five strikeouts and two walks.
Kirkwood scored eight runs in the second inning and owned a 16-3 lead after seven frames. Cuyahoga tallied six times in the eighth inning to make the score more respectable.
Jamarion Loston went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs for the Eagles. Taylor Jackson was 2-for-4 with two doubles and scored three runs. Zion Pettigrew was 2-for-5 and scored twice. Kam Arons had two RBIs. Levi Usher and D'Eric Shenault scored twice.
